HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FREDDIE!

Freddie was tricked down from the horseback and away from a promising carreer in showjumping and on to the field by her brother, the ever infamous Nick Brockdorff. She instantly clicked with our beloved sport and started her own all-girl team in Denmark – Miss Behave. Just as Charms, she experienced the problems every girls-only teams have – the loss of players and the lack of dedication. When she was offered a spot on her brother’s team, she did not hesitate, and this lead her to playing Division 1 in the Millennium Series.

The ladies of Charms and Freddie have always had a good connection – a certain party-party-PARTY in Marseilles solidified this relationship ;-) And the result was Freddie’s transfer to FL Charms at the beginning of the 2007 season. Freddie is not only a dedicated player, but also an advocate for player’s rights. The Millennium board are facing a tough season with Freddie as chairperson for Fat Lady’s Charms – and thus representing the team owner of our licence for Division 1.

Practise at MASH Paintball Arena
The season has definitely started! This weekend, FLC and friends were gathered to kick-start their first season playing the M7 format. We practised at MASH Paintball Arena, our faithful reball site sponsor through many years. Here's a picture of all the girls that came over for two days of drilling and x-ball matches. Thanks to Maharadjas and the MASH teams that gave us tough games, and to our coaches Sebban from Stockholm Joy and Nick from Ugly Ducklins!

FLC takes 2nd place in Division 1!

This weekends 3 man tournament in Halden, Norway proved the ladies of FLC fit for the 2008 season. Freddie from Denmark and Kristine and Kate from Norway rocked the field and took 2nd place after an exciting final, where only the body count decided 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATE!

Kate is the only remainder of the founders of FL Charms. She started playing in the spring of 2001 and co-founded the all-girl team Fat Lady’s Charms together with Lene Græe and Heidi Tuft in September the same year. The first time she ever played on a supair field, she used a Spyder, that was in really bad shape. To even have a slight chance of hitting the opponents, she had to move upfield – and thus ended up as a front player. You’ll most often see her on the snake side. As one of the good old Hardcore players (you still remember the legendary team Hardcore, right?) said, as he was coaching the FLCs: "Of course Kate is going to the snake - she’s so short, she can probably stand up behind it!"

Kate will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow, playing a 3-Man tournament in Norway, together with Freddie and Kristine. Go to the forum if you want to leave a message to her! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Ten girls from seven different countries attended our Boobcamp the weekend before New Years Eve. We would like to thank them all for coming! Pictures from the camp will be up shortly.

The morning started out with the site opening half an hour late, the darkness lifted just before 8 o'clock and you couldn't see across the field because of the fog untill well after 10 o'clock. Other than that, the day was ok. We didn't get it all working for us on the field, so the results of the day is 1 draw, 2 wins and 3 losses (yes, we played 6 games today. I guess the huge M5 division is the reason why the divisional games are rushed this way). Tomorrow, we have two games in the afternoon - wish us luck!

Paris always keeps her promises and is beautiful as ever! The site is in front of the entrance to the Disney parks, the fields have turf and it's looking good :) We play tomorrow morning and we cross our fingers that the mist we had this morning leaves before our first game. Which, by the way, is against our dear practise partners, Örebro Malicious.

The ladies played the Swedish Hype, a leg in the 3KC (Three Crown Cup) two weeks ago. The format was SPL and the team hauled in a convincing 5th place in competition with experienced X-ball teams as Joy Division and Ugly Ducklins. As we speak, the FLCs are heading for Paris, for the last event of the Millennium Series this season. Hope to see you all there!

Have the ladies of FLC gone into hibernation? According to the frequency of the updates on the website, you might very well think so - but it's only their web master! If you attended the Millennium events in London and Belgium, you know the ladies are up and running, as charming as always ;)

What's happened since June?

• FLC played Sunday in both London as Belgium, and is preparing for Paris as we speak.
• The ladies played the Norwegian National Paintball Championship at the end of August. The format was X-ball light, where the winner was first team to take three points in each match. FLC took a decent 6th place!
• Next event will be 3 Crown Cup - "Swedish Hype" - in Sweden at the end of September. Sebban from Joy Division is the organiser and we expect it to be an excellent tournament, and an even better player's party - as usual :)

The season has started! Toulouse didn't bring out the best in us, but we'll be back stronger in Germany. Congratulations to our friends in B4 for their excellent result! As for us: we'll be practising at the Wizeguy's field this weekend! And on Sunday from noon, it is open for walk-on. Be there!

Its been quiet here lately...but now we have stopped eating ginger bread and x-mas chocolate and finally decided to update our web site.

First some great news - We have signed a new girl for season 2007. She is real danish dynamite and used to play for the D1 team Berserks. Click to check her out...

A lot is happening with FLC right now. Two new girls have signed up for the team - Solrunn and Helen. We have had our eyes on these girls for some time now and they have proved to be as good as we thought.

Next week eight of us are heading for sunny California and the last event of the NPPL. Do I need to say we are looking forward to play?? It's getting a bit too chilly in Scandinavia so we are of courese taking some well earned vacation as well. :-)

Practise in Oslo
We've already played the first Millennium of the year - but in Scandinavia, the winter will stay put for at least another month.

Ever wondered how it's like to practise in Scandinavia this time of year? All you need is a fotball field (they're the only fields without snow), 20 strong guys to build up a netting, a heated tent, a strong will to put up with the snowy weather, the ponds on the field and an ice cold gun. Other than that, it's just pure paintball joy!
